Cognac glasses usually have got a very squat shape with a bulbous drinking goblet in which the distilled aromas can spread and develop well. The same applies to this cognac glass from the 'Soiree' series by the manufacturer Spiegelau. It consists of a rather wide, rounded goblet that sits on a very short stem. This in turn merges seamlessly into the thick base, which provides stability. It is therefore easy to hold the goblet in your palm with the stem between the fingers and swirl it a little to stir up the aromas and smell them.
This 13,7cm tall, squat stemmed glass belongs to Spiegelau's 'Soiree' range and was designed for the professional serving of cognac and other brandies. In its wide drinking goblet, komplex aromas can develop optimally. The short, sturdy stem makes it easy to hold the glass between the fingers, in the palm of the hand and swirl it. This way, the rich aromas are swirled up and can be sniffed at the 9,7cm wide rim of the glass. This so-called "nosing" has a long tradition, especially with distilled wines!
