Fancy glasses

All Fancy glasses really only have one thing in common; they all stand out from conventional glassware due to their unusual shape. Hence, there is no such thing as THE typical fancy glass. Whether small or large, with or without a stem or color accents, fancy glasses deserve their own category because they don't fit into the classic design pattern.

The use can be selected depending on the glass’s shape and volume. Fancy glasses have become increasingly popular since the 1940s, when rum cocktails with a high ration of fruit juice, such as the Singapore Sling or Planter's Punch, also became popular. Coladas and cream cocktails are also often served in large, eye-catching fancy glasses. What all these cocktails have in common is that when they are served, special attention is paid to their often-colorful presentation with expansive cocktail decorations. In addition to straws, this includes larger than usual pieces of fruit, skewers and decorative items such as parasols.

A particularly prominent member of the category of fancy glasses is the hurricane glass. It is a tall, curved glass with a short stem and a relatively large capacity of approx. 44-70cl. Therefore, Hurricane glasses have become a kind of standard for large fruit cocktails in many establishments.
