Falernum is the name of a rum liqueur or -syrup invented in Barbados. The liqueur contains rum, sugar, limes and almonds. Some family recipes date back to the 19th century, perhaps even earlier. Each family had their own recipe and some of them have been used commercially. The syrup is easy to mix and prepare by yourself and can be refined with your favorite spices like ginger or gloves.

Monin´s Falernum syrup has a soft smell of lemons and reminds slightly of hard candy. Moreover, you can also smell and taste notes of gloves and almonds as well as vanilla. Use this syrup to create Tiki cocktails and tropical longdrinks. The non-alcoholic syrup is also suitable to prepare lemonades, iced teas and to refine sparkling water.

Recipe

Falernum Fruit Punch
2cl Monin Falernum syrup
1,5cl Monin Passionfruit fruit mix
8cl guava juice
6cl pineapple juice
1cl lime juice
Ice cubes
Pour all ingredients into a shake and shake with ice cubes. Fill the drink into a Tiki-mug or longdrink glass. Add 4cl Rum or Vodka if you´d like an alcoholic alternative.
