Crescent ice maker with fully automatic chemical cleaning

The Hoshizaki KM-60C-HC-W combines an output of up to 60 kg of crescent ice per 24 hours with an integrated storage bin for 23 kg of ice. This makes the self-contained machine suitable for bars, restaurants, hotels, cafés and other professional environments that regularly require clear, shape-retaining ice cubes.

The crescent ice consists of individual, half-moon-shaped cubes measuring approximately 38 x 29 x 13 mm. Each cube weighs an average of 10 g and has a solid structure without an internal cavity. Its curved shape allows the ice to distribute evenly in a glass and reduces splashing when drinks are poured. Bottles can also be positioned easily between the cubes in an ice bucket.

For ice production, Hoshizaki combines CycleSaver technology with a double-sided stainless-steel vertical evaporator. Forming ice on both sides increases the available evaporator surface and the quantity produced during each cycle. As fewer harvest operations are required, a greater proportion of the operating time can be used for ice production.

Water circulates through a closed circuit. A variable DC pump regulates the water flow, while a float switch monitors the fill level. The circuit can be automatically flushed with fresh water after different numbers of production cycles. When the unit remains inactive for four hours, the sanitation mode refreshes the water inside the system automatically.

As a W version, the KM-60C-HC-W is equipped with a fully automatic chemical cleaning function. The programme can be configured in increments of 100 to start after an interval of between 400 and 1,000 production cycles. Once the selected interval has been reached, the cleaning process begins automatically. The required cleaning agent is not included.

The EverCheck control panel is positioned on the outside of the unit and combines audible alerts with integrated diagnostic functions. It provides information about the machine’s operating condition and assists service technicians in identifying potential faults.

The double-sided evaporator is made entirely of stainless steel and requires no additional plating. It can therefore be descaled without a coated surface flaking away. For routine maintenance, the air filter is accessible from the front and the magnetic door gaskets can be removed easily.

Air-cooled refrigeration and the natural refrigerant R290 are used for cooling. The self-contained machine can be commissioned after connection to electricity, fresh water and drainage. Four legs and an ice scoop are included. Hoshizaki lists a water filtration system and a UV LED for the water tank as optional additions.
