Flake ice without warm air – water-cooled & modular

The Brema G 160W HC flake ice maker is the right choice for applications where large quantities of flake ice need to be produced but warm exhaust air is a problem, such as in confined, warm, or air-conditioned rooms. Thanks to its water cooling system, it also operates quietly and delivers up to 157 kg of flake ice per 24 hours. The ice flakes (approx. −0,5 °C) are malleable, cover a large area, and can be dispensed precisely – ideal for fresh produce presentation, processing, and process cooling.

How the ice flakes are produced

Flake ice production begins in the cylindrical stainless steel evaporator. Here, a fine layer of ice forms, which is continuously removed by a rotating screw and broken into loose flakes. This creates homogeneous, soft ice flakes with a large contact surface – ideal for coating goods and maintaining a consistent temperature.

Water cooling – neutral to the ambient air and very quiet

Water cooling offers decisive advantages: no warm exhaust air in the room and very quiet operation – a plus for narrow counters, open presentation areas, and warm environments. The water-cooled version requires an inlet and outlet for the cooling water and consumes a corresponding amount of water. This ice maker uses the environmentally friendly refrigerant R290 (propane): energy-efficient and with a very low greenhouse effect.

Modular design – storage according to your needs

Plan your storage capacity for flake ice individually according to your needs – the G 160W HC makes it possible. It works as a modular device without integrated storage. Storage is provided by external Brema storage containers, e.g., Bin 110, Bin 200, or RB 100, depending on space and desired withdrawal. This allows you to scale storage volume, footprint, and withdrawal precisely to your processes.

Areas of application – when space and protection are important

Fish and delicatessen counters, buffets, and restaurant kitchens benefit from flat, moldable cooling. Flake ice has also proven itself in wellness & medicine, chemistry/pharmacy, and industrial temperature control processes – wherever dosable, clean, and reliably distributed flake cooling is required.

Hygiene and care – smooth, accessible, quick to clean

The ice machine housing is made of AISI 304 stainless steel with robust, hygienic surfaces. Rounded inner edges and removable components keep cleaning times short. This ensures predictable routines, high hygiene, and consistent ice quality in everyday work.

Installation & water quality – prerequisite for rated values

Proper installation is required to ensure that the ice cream machine runs smoothly and achieves the specified rated performance. For consistently high ice cream quality and low maintenance, we recommend a suitable water filter that reduces hardness and particles.
