The decanter 'Syrah' by Riedel is intended by the manufacturer as an entry-level model due to its functional shape and ease of use. With its wide, round belly and the high bottle neck, it decants effectively and lastingly, whether red or white, old or young wines. The carafe rim is wide open and rounded, allowing spill- and splash-free pouring on a large scale. Towards the bottom, the neck opens so that it can eventually form the broad belly of the vessel. This in turn initially behaves wide and expansive, before tapering again conically and ending in a comparatively small base.
