Long drink
Long drinks are a cocktail category. This type of drink is based on comparatively simple recipes, which mainly consist of a base spirit with an amount usually between 2cl and 6cl and a carbonated filler with a larger quantity. These cocktails are often served in characteristic, tall long drink glasses, which are usually filled with lots of ice in advance.
In practice, it is particularly difficult, if not impossible, to differentiate it from the closely related highballs. Arguments that are often read, such as the comparatively smaller volume of highballs or the fact that highballs are always served mixed while long drinks are served with the fillers separately cannot simply be verified and oftentimes do not apply in reality. The terms long drink and highball glass are also not clearly defined are regularly interchanged.
