The glass itself is suitable for both the dishwasher and the microwave; however, according to the manufacturer, it must not be used in the oven or over an open flame. The lid is made of stainless steel, polypropylene, and a silicone gasket and should be washed by hand only. The gasket ensures it fits securely on the upright jar. Since the lid is simply snapped on and not tightly screwed down, however, it is not recommended to store the jar on its side.
