The wine glasses from Riedel's 'Vinum' production series date back to 1986 and were released as their first grape varietal-specific collection. This means that each wine glass was designed for one, sometimes two, types of grape - in this case for Syrah and Shiraz.
The red wine glass has got a large, slender goblet with only slightly convex side walls. This is enthroned on a short but thin stem, which in turn merges seamlessly into the base of the glass. The large 700ml chalice offers the multi-layered aromas enough space to unfold and distribute sufficiently, which in the end increases their already high intensity. In addition, its high-necked shape serves to find a balance between the bitter tannins and the heavy fruitiness of Shiraz wines.
