This extensive crystal glass wine carafe called 'Toscana' from Spiegelau is not only suitable for pouring, but also for decanting red wine in advance due to its well considered shape. The main protagonist here is the jutting, almost elliptical belly of the vessel. The wine poured into it comes into large-scale contact with atmospheric oxygen, allowing its aroma to fully develop. To prevent the complex aromas from escaping immediately, the belly of the vessel tapers to a narrow bottle neck. This only opens slightly again towards the top, which ensures safe and comfortable dispensing from the carafe.
Overall, the crystal glass Toscana carafe has a volume of 1,5l, but it should never be completely filled for the purpose of decanting, as the convex neck of the bottle does not provide a wide air mirror surface. In addition, a strongly inwardly arched section can be seen in the center of its base.
