Shot Glasses

Shot glasses or 'shots' are small glasses intended for spirits such as schnapps or liqueur, which are usually drunk directly from the glass in one or a few puffs. In addition, shot glasses can be used like jiggers to measure spirits for mixing cocktails, since the same volumes are common for both. In Germany, these are usually 2 cl (20 ml) or 4 cl for a 'double'. In other countries, however, other pairings are common, for example 25 / 50 ml in Great Britain or 1,5 fl oz / 3 fl oz (45 / 90 ml) in the USA.
There are also special shooter recipes based on several ingredients, including, for example, the well-known layered cocktail Irish Flag. Depending on the region, certain other nicknames for shot glasses are common in Germany, including Stamperl, Pinnchen or Pinneken. In Austria, there are also 'Dreifache' with 6 cl.

Shot glasses usually have a thick bottom, and the walls can be thin or solid. Since drinking shots 'on the fly' (i.e. in one go) is popular in clubs as well as at private parties, it is also often associated with drinking games.

Shot glasses are also popular promotional items and can be found in various variations and with a wide variety of imprints.
