Ice tongs
Ice tongs are mainly used to handle ice cubes without touching it. There are also large ice tongs that are designed for holding ice balls or large (XXL) ice cubes. Small ice tongs or ice tongs made of thin material are mostly used for the guest area.
Ice tongs are also used by bartenders, for example to put cocktail garnishes or straws on or into the cocktail glass. In this way, touching the ice or garnish with the hand can be avoided, which is good for hygiene.
Ice tongs are made of matt or polished stainless steel and have two serrated ends. There are also variants with a curved end or a spring between the two tongs. The strength of the stainless steel is decisive for the quality. The resistance when closing the tongs should not be too little, otherwise the elasticity will quickly wear out. On the other hand, if the stainless steel is too thick, the ice tongs will be more difficult to handle. The shape of the ice tongs can also affect their stability. Lastly, the tongs’ teeth should always be able to hold ice cubes securely.
