Barmat

The bar mat is a pad on the bar counter on which cocktails are prepared and served. It is used to protect the work area and to collect spilled liquids. Bar mats can be found in different shapes, colors and materials. The shape of the bar mat is determined by its area of application. A distinction is made between work area and service area bar mats. Bar mats are made of rubber, fabric (neoprene) or metal. The rubber mats are available in different colors, sizes and thicknesses as well as with different knob sizes. In addition, rubber bar mats usually have an edge to keep spilled liquids inside the bar mat. Generally, rubber bar mats are not dishwasher-safe, as they tend to deform at high temperatures.

A special feature that is often integrated into the counter is the bar mat made of stainless steel. This so-called drip tray is integrated into the bar board and is very easy to clean after service. The advantage of the drip tray lies in the large absorption capacity for spilled liquids.

Ultimately, fabric bar mats are often used as an advertising medium for certain brands.

On the counter and usually an elongated mat is placed which is used as a serving pad. Their dimensions are usually around 5-10 cm wide and 50-80 cm long.

Work surface bar mats most commonly come in rectangular sizes with the dimensions of 45x30cm and 15x30cm. The work area bar mat also serves as a storage place for bar utensils, glasses and bar tools on the work surface, while also dampening the working noise.

Many bartenders prefer firm bar mats, as they don't buckle as much when lifted, which makes pouring off liquids easier.
