Bottle opener

Bottle openers that are used to open any bottles with crown caps are called bottle openers. They use a lever mechanism that slightly bends the crown cap in order to remove it. Either a bracket is placed over the crown cap which grips under the cap, bending it upwards or the mechanism consists of a narrow bar with a tooth on the opposite side, which follows the same levering principle (economy version).

The majority of bottle openers are hand-held devices but there are also variants for wall mounting, which can be fixed behind the bar, for example. A solid material is needed in order to bend the crown cap, which is why bottle openers are generally made of metal. However, openers with rubber or plastic parts such as handles or covers are also available.

In addition, bottle openers are sometimes offered in smaller, compact shapes in order to fit into other useful multi-tools like the waiter's knife, which is widespread in the catering industry and combines corkscrews, bottle openers and sometimes foil cutters in one tool.

Bottle openers are also popular promotional items, which are personalized, engraved and printed by manufacturers in the industry.
