Cocktail skewers
Cocktail skewers or cocktail pickers are skewers for skewering fruit, which are usually used as cocktail garnishe. They have a pointed end for this purpose; the other end varies from product to product.
A simple and well-known version are toothpicks, which are often used for picking olives in restaurants or as a garnish for martinis.
Special bamboo fruit skewers are also available; depending on personal preference, these are available in a simple design, with a ring-shaped end, as well as noshikushi skewers (knotted end) and tepokushi skewers (little bamboo ‘flag’ at the other end). Cocktail skewers are also available in a metal version, which are reusable.
The name 'cocktail picker', on the other hand, usually refers to skewers made of plastic. These fulfill the same function, but are also available in different colors and shapes (e.g. sword, palm tree, etc.).
A closely related product are so-called long drink sticks; Depending on the version, these either function as skewers or have a blunt end and are used like cocktail stirrers.
