Nosing Glass
A nosing glass (also called a tasting glass) is a special glass designed specifically for tasting spirits. The shape is similar to that of a sherry tulip; the shape, which tapers towards the top, allows aromas to be optimally concentrated and fed to the nose.
On the one hand, the thin glass allows a good assessment of color and viscosity, on the other hand it favors the tempering of the drink. However, the longer stem can counteract the undesired warming up just as well.
Tasting glasses are particularly popular among whisk(e)y enthusiasts; in the meantime, they are already being used in some places as an alternative to cognac snifters or even for rum or tequila.
